What Is CGC Signature Series?

Under the program, a CGC Authorized Witness observes the item being signed in person by the athlete, celebrity, artist, or creator. Because the signing is witnessed directly and chain of custody is maintained throughout the process, CGC can certify the autograph as witnessed authentic at the time of encapsulation.

This provides an additional level of authentication and provenance beyond traditional post-signing handwriting analysis or forensic signature review methods.

Items submitted through the program receive CGC's highly recognizable Gold Signature Series label, one of the most respected autograph designations in the hobby. Signature Series vs CGC x JSA Authentication

CGC Signature Series signatures are witnessed live by an authorized CGC witness.CGC x JSA authentication is designed for previously signed items where no witness was present at the time of signing. In those cases, autograph authenticity is reviewed by JSA Authentication through forensic signature analysis before encapsulation.Because Signature Series signatures are directly witnessed, they are considered the gold standard for autograph authentication within the hobby.

What's the difference between Signature Series and CGC x JSA?

Signature Series requires the autograph to be witnessed live by an Authorized CGC Witness, the highest level of authentication. CGC x JSA is used for previously-signed items where authenticity is verified through JSA's forensic review process.

Can any piece be submitted for Signature Series?

Most magazines, programs, and similar collectibles are eligible. We inspect each piece before submission to confirm eligibility and identify any condition concerns that could affect grading.

What signers do you offer?

How long does the full process take?

From submission to return typically takes 60-120 days depending on event timing and grading turnaround. We provide estimated timelines with every quote.
